The pricing continues to be annoying to me, and I'd be just as happy to no longer be annoyed by having my mind changed.Įdit disclosure: I am a daily Obsidian user, have been for about 6-8 months, use it for my zettelkasten, writing articles, and a bit of journaling (tho not that much for that).Įdit "Yes, I know": Yes, I know none of these are required. ![]() (Many platforms allow you to host sites for $10-20/mo and you can get a domain for the same, and you can sync to your phone). ![]() But, that's not a reason to pay whatever they are asking, especially when it's leaps above what most other platforms are asking. Financially supporting the things we love, especially the conveted, small(ish)-scale, boutique-y, mom and pop things is something we all love. Let's keep "well, I like supporting Obsidian" out of the conversation. I'm wondering if we can discuss other pay models whereby the general solo-user (people not working in teams, for example), can get the benefits of Obsidian without having to spend hundreds of dollars a year. As of today, if you were to use Obsidian for syncing (having notes you take on your phone and computer sync up) and publish (let people see your notes online) it would cost you $30/mo or $288 a year.ĭoes anyone else feel that paying roughly $300 a year to have a basic, mostly text-based website and a way to make changes to that site from your phone is incredibly expensive?
